I hope you’re roaring and ready to go for this brand new year!
This New Year’s Eve, I created this thing that I call a “Dream Tree” in my den. It has silvery branches, small white xmas lights and “dreams” hanging from the branches. I invited people to write their hopes on a piece of paper and to hang them on the tree. I wrote: “FIRST HAND WOMAN goes to NYC”. 🙂
Anyhow, on New Year’s Eve, we had some music playing, the libations, er, libating, and wonderful guests dancing up a storm! As it can happen, a circle formed and people began to jump in the middle to rock their own solo moves.
Is it just me, or do you find these to be kinda awkward? Lol. I get all nervous and feel like I’m all arms and legs and do my best to be entertaining. Maybe it’s just my inner-introvert speaking. 🙂
Anyhow, at one point during the night, I was looking over these brand-spanking new hopes and wishes on the Dream Tree, and found one that made me smile. One person had written:
To be the one who dances in the middle of the circle.”
How amazing, right?
Taking the centre of attention is hard for many of us, myself included.
And as a self-proclaimed introvert, it is difficult for me to dance in the middle of the circle too.
Now it’s time for you to take action. I want you to write down what your dream would be to hang on the Dream Tree. And here are the most important parts:
- Make it something that is outside of your comfort zone;
- Make it specific.
Be it dancing in the middle of the circle, asking for that raise, singing in public, whatever. Dive into that uncomfortable feeling. Write it down. 🙂
Be sure to comment below and tell me what you would hang on the tree.
And as always,
Dream up,
Sarah Michelle Brown
